Warsaw's tram network, operated by Tramwaje Warszawskie under the Warszawski Transport Publiczny (WTP) umbrella, is one of the largest in Europe, complementing the city's metro and bus services.
The story of
Trams have operated in Warsaw since 1866, initially horse-drawn, with electrification completed by 1908. Much of the network was destroyed during World War II and rebuilt afterward. Today it is operated by Tramwaje Warszawskie as part of the unified Warszawski Transport Publiczny system, which also coordinates the city's metro and bus networks.
