By using trains.fyi, you agree to the following terms. Please read them carefully.

1. Acceptance of Terms

These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your use of the trains.fyi website, iOS and Android applications, official API and MCP integrations, and related services (collectively, the "Service") operated by Radical Sloth Inc. under the trains.fyi name ("we", "us", or "our").

By accessing or using the Service, you agree to be bound by these Terms. If you do not agree, please do not use the Service.

2. Description of Service

trains.fyi provides real-time and scheduled train tracking information, including train positions, departure times, route maps, and related transit data. The Service is available through our website, mobile applications, and supported connected assistants.

3. Data Accuracy

Train information combines third-party feeds, schedules, inferred or synthesized positions, and user submissions. Not every train is shown. Positions, identities, times, and status may be incomplete, delayed, estimated, stale, or incorrect. A missing train or position does not mean a service is cancelled or that tracks are clear. While we strive to display accurate and up-to-date information:

  • We do not guarantee the accuracy, completeness, or timeliness of any data
  • Real-time data may be delayed, unavailable, or inaccurate
  • Schedule information may not reflect real-world service changes, disruptions, or cancellations
  • You should not rely solely on trains.fyi for travel decisions — always check with your transit provider

4. Rail safety

The Service is for informational and recreational use. Do not use it for navigation, railway operations, emergencies, or deciding whether tracks are safe to enter or cross. A train may be present or approaching even when none appears on the map. An estimate or freshness label is not a safety assessment.

Never trespass on tracks, rights-of-way, tunnels, bridges, yards, equipment, or restricted railway property. Observe from lawful public locations, cross only at designated crossings, and obey signs, signals, gates, local laws, and officials. Do not use the Service while driving or in another unsafe manner. In an emergency, move to safety and contact local emergency services or the emergency number posted at the crossing.

5. Acceptable Use

You agree not to:

  • Use the Service for any unlawful purpose
  • Attempt to gain unauthorized access to any part of the Service
  • Bypass access controls, abuse request limits, or extract data through unauthorized automation; supported use of our official API and MCP tools is permitted subject to their access limits
  • Interfere with or disrupt the Service or its infrastructure
  • Reproduce, redistribute, or commercially exploit the Service or its content without written consent

6. Intellectual Property

The Service, including its design, branding, and original content, is owned by trains.fyi and protected by applicable intellectual property laws. Transit data displayed on the Service may be subject to the terms and licenses of the respective transit agencies that provide it.

7. User Accounts

Some features of the Service may require you to create an account. You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your account credentials and for all activity that occurs under your account.

8. Subscriptions and contributions

Paid features, prices, billing periods, and renewal conditions are shown at purchase. Manage cancellation and refund requests through the billing provider used for your purchase, subject to its rules and applicable law. Deleting an account or disconnecting an assistant does not by itself cancel a subscription.

Only submit sightings, photos, or other content you have the right to share, and obtain them lawfully and safely. Do not submit private information about others, unlawful material, or misleading reports. You retain ownership and permit us to store, display, and process contributions to provide the features you use. We may moderate or remove content that violates these Terms.

9. Limitation of Liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, trains.fyi and its operators shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising from your use of or inability to use the Service.

The Service is provided "as is" and "as available" without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied, including but not limited to implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement.

Nothing in these Terms excludes liability or consumer rights that cannot legally be excluded.

10. Third-Party Services

The Service may contain links to or integrate with third-party services. We are not responsible for the content, privacy practices, or terms of any third-party services.

11. Changes to Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. Changes will be posted on this page with an updated effective date. Where required, we will notify you of material changes and request acceptance before continued access. A document version identifies the wording presented; it does not itself prove acceptance.

12. Termination

We reserve the right to suspend or terminate your access to the Service at any time, for violations, abuse, security reasons, or discontinuation, subject to applicable law. Where practicable and appropriate, we will provide notice.
