The Tel Aviv Light Rail's Red Line, operated by Tevel, connects Petah Tikva through central Tel Aviv to Bat Yam, the first line of a planned regional light rail network.
The story of
The Red Line opened to the public in August 2023, becoming the first rapid transit line in the Tel Aviv metropolitan area. Built and planned by NTA (Netivei Ayalon), the roughly 24-kilometre line runs partly underground through central Tel Aviv and above ground at both ends, connecting Petah Tikva to Bat Yam. Additional Green and Purple lines are under construction as part of the wider Tel Aviv Light Rail system.
