Portland Streetcar

The story of

Portland Streetcar

Portland Streetcar began service in 2001 as the first modern streetcar line built in the United States in decades, initially connecting Northwest Portland to Portland State University. It has since expanded into the NS Line and the Central Loop (split into the A and B Loops), extending service across the Willamette River to the Central Eastside. The system is owned by the City of Portland and operated by Portland Streetcar, Inc. under contract, separately from TriMet's bus and MAX light rail network.
