The Venice Simplon-Orient-Express is Belmond's modern revival of the legendary luxury train, running an overnight journey between Paris and Venice via the Arlberg and Brenner passes. This is a ghost train: there is no live GPS or GTFS-RT feed, positions are simulated from a representative schedule -- real departures run 2-4 times a month, March through December.

The story of

Orient Express

The original Orient Express began service in 1883, running between Paris and Constantinople (Istanbul) and becoming a byword for luxury rail travel. The modern Venice Simplon-Orient-Express, launched in 1982 using restored 1920s-30s carriages, revived the brand as a dedicated leisure journey rather than a point-to-point service, primarily running between Paris and Venice.
