The story of

MVG

Münchner Verkehrsgesellschaft (MVG), a subsidiary of the municipal utility Stadtwerke München, has run Munich's public transport since 1938. The U-Bahn opened in 1971 ahead of the 1972 Summer Olympics, while the tram network traces back to 1876 and today combines historic routes with modern low-floor lines across the city.
