The story of
The MTR opened in 1979 with the Kwun Tong Line, Hong Kong's first rapid transit line. It has since grown into one of the world's busiest and most profitable metro systems, later absorbing the former Kowloon-Canton Railway (KCR) network in 2007 to form today's integrated system spanning Hong Kong Island, Kowloon, and the New Territories.
