The story of

Matterhorn Gotthard Bahn

Matterhorn Gotthard Bahn formed in 2003 from the merger of the Furka Oberalp Bahn (FO) and the Brig-Visp-Zermatt Bahn (BVZ). It operates the highest-altitude rail crossing of the Alps via the Furka Base Tunnel and provides the final approach into Zermatt, a car-free resort beneath the Matterhorn. Together with RhB, MGB co-operates the Glacier Express, marketed as the world's slowest express train, linking Zermatt to St. Moritz over roughly eight hours.
