Metro Manila's LRT-1, LRT-2, and MRT-3 lines connect major destinations across the Philippine capital region.
The story of
Metro Manila's modern urban rail era began when LRT-1 opened in 1984, becoming the first rapid-transit line in Southeast Asia. MRT-3 began serving the EDSA corridor in 1999, and LRT-2 followed in 2003 with an east-west route through Manila and Quezon City. The three elevated rail lines form the backbone of the capital region's public transport network and continue to expand toward new interchange stations and surrounding cities.
