Iași's tram network, operated by CTP Iași (Compania de Transport Public Iași), is one of Romania's oldest and remains the backbone of transit in the country's second-largest metropolitan area.
The story of
Electric trams began running in Iași in 1900, after King Carol I granted the tramway concession to the German company AEG in 1898. Today the network is operated by CTP Iași (known as RATP Iași until 2016), running 9 tram routes alongside an extensive bus and trolleybus network across the city.
