The story of
Trams have run in Bucharest since 1894, initially horse-drawn with electrification following in 1899. The network is operated today by STB SA, part of the unified TPBI (Transport Public București-Ilfov) authority, and remains one of the largest tram networks in Eastern Europe alongside the city's metro system (Metrorex, operated separately).
