The story of

BLS

BLS traces its roots to the 1913 opening of the Lötschberg Tunnel, built to link Bern with the Simplon Pass route into Italy. The modern BLS AG formed in 2006 through a merger of BLS Lötschbergbahn and Regionalverkehr Mittelland, and today operates regional and S-Bahn passenger services under contract to Swiss cantons alongside its original Lötschberg mainline corridor.
