The story of
TriMet
TriMet (Tri-County Metropolitan Transportation District of Oregon) was founded in 1969. The MAX (Metropolitan Area Express) Light Rail system began service in 1986 with the Blue Line between Portland and Gresham. The system has since expanded to five lines covering 60 miles, serving Portland and its suburbs. MAX was one of the first modern light rail systems in North America and has been influential in Portland's transit-oriented development and environmental sustainability efforts.
