The story of
The Berlin S-Bahn has operated since 1924, making it one of the oldest electric suburban rail systems in the world. Divided during the Cold War between East and West Berlin operators, it was reunified after 1989. Today it is operated by S-Bahn Berlin GmbH, a subsidiary of Deutsche Bahn, carrying over 400 million passengers annually across a network of 340 km.
