LNER

The story of

LNER

London North Eastern Railway (LNER) is the operator of intercity rail services on the East Coast Main Line, one of the most important rail corridors in Great Britain. The brand revived the name of the original LNER, one of the 'Big Four' railway companies that operated from 1923 to 1948. The current LNER has been publicly owned since 2018, operated by DfT OLR Holdings. The East Coast Main Line runs from London King's Cross through Peterborough, Doncaster, York, Durham, and Newcastle to Edinburgh, with branches to Leeds, Hull, and other destinations. LNER operates the Azuma fleet of bi-mode trains, capable of running on both electrified and non-electrified track.
