The story of

Sydney Metro

Sydney Metro began operations on 26 May 2019 with the M1 North West Line from Tallawong to Chatswood. The line was extended to Sydenham on 19 August 2024 as part of the City & Southwest project. Further extensions to Bankstown are underway, with completion expected in 2026. Two additional lines, Metro West (M2) and Western Sydney Airport (M3), are under construction, aiming to expand the network to 113 km with 46 stations upon completion.
