The story of
NCTD was established in 1975 to provide public transportation in North San Diego County. The COASTER commuter rail began service in 1995, connecting Oceanside and downtown San Diego along the coast. The SPRINTER light rail, launched in 2008, links Oceanside and Escondido via a former freight rail corridor. NCTD also operates BREEZE buses and LIFT paratransit, serving a diverse and growing region.
